What to wear for autumn/winter 2014.

We’ve entered that transitional period of ‘no longer summer, yet not quite winter’ and with it comes a spell of awkward days to try and dress appropriately for. Unpredictable rain showers and a change in temperature on a seemingly hourly basis is just another factor to be taken into consideration when choosing your outfit of a morning. To help you along and take the frustration out of staring blankly at an increasingly uninspiring and impractical wardrobe, we at Lavish Alice have put together some on-trend outfits with advice on how to wear them at this time of year.

What to wear for autumn/winter 2014

The Mustard Roll Neck Cut-Out Detail Cropped Sweater is the perfect piece for weather that’s neither warm nor particularly cold. The cotton fabric and looser fit is comfortably cool yet the roll neck detail will keep you snug, and you can always wear this over a cami or t-shirt for extra warmth. Another versatile item is the Black and Cream Contrast Tapered Leg Jumpsuit, as you know jumpsuits are still at the top of the most wanted list and they look just as good dressed down as they do dressed up. Team with a long red cardigan and some heeled ankle boots for an instant autumnal look.

A favourite at Lavish Alice is the Grey & Black Structured Long Sleeve Collar Cuff Dress, an ideal piece for winter in a colour that you cannot go wrong with. Fitted to the waist with a skater skirt bottom, this is undeniably smart yet feminine. Wear with a pair of fashion forward thigh boots and a statement necklace. Possibly the most important part of your wardrobe for the shift in weather is a go-to jacket. Our Black Collarless Cape Blazer is the ultimate style to smarten up an evening look, whilst the White and Grey Grid Print Duster Coat will see you through the crisp days of fall.

Winter need not be drab, take a look at our New In for even more inspiration.

We’ve spotted Made in Chelsea’s very own Lucy Watson showing us how to work the pastel trend for autumn! It’s time to forget about the LBD and opt for the LBBD, little baby blue dress that is! Lucy Watson looked stunning in our Powder Blue Cropped Mini Dress, as she headed to One Marylebone to celebrate the launch of Fearne Cottons SS15 collection for that kicked off London Fashion Week!

Reunited with her best friend Stephanie Pratt, who has recently just been evicted from the Big Brother house, wore an equally icy-blue combo. The pair were definitely not to be missed as they wowed onlookers in their pastel ensembles at the pre-London fashion week event. Lucy teamed the tiered powder blue thigh skimming dress with a pair of contrast red, black and white printed heels. She added a black leather jacket and a silver chain embellished shoulder bag, to give more of that rock chick look she is known for. Going for a liner flicked feline eye, Lucy kept her make-up simple, her brunette locks were left down in a sleek middle parting to let the outfit do all the talking!
The event was one not to be missed! With stars such as her mother-in-law Jo Wood as well as presenter Lilah Parsons, DJ Sara Cox and Made In Chelsea star Cheska Hull, it was a great start to London Fashion Week. Fearne's collection doesn’t launch until the 13th of January, but fans caught a glimpse of the SS15 line at a circus themed showcase. With bold  summer colours and luxurious fabrics, Fearne describes her collection as, “all about having fun and making you feel empowered and at your best”. Earlier in the day Fearne attended a photocell where she was seen in an eye popping pink dress, stood next to two models styled in dipped hem dresses and rocky fishnet tights with socks.
We know what we’ll be wearing this weekend! Throw those drab little black dresses out of your wardrobe and step out in this little blue number - steal the stars style and stand out like Lucy.

Caroline of Burkatron gave a whole new meaning to the phrase 'casual chic,' when she rocked up in our White Collarless Blazer. Teaming the timeless jacket with a slouchy tee, boyfriend ripped knee jeans and New Balance trainers, Caroline stayed cool and comfy without loosing any fashion points! Opting for a funky oversized spotted clutch, really set this outfit apart from other day-to-day wears. Describing the jacket as a 'knock out' piece, I'm sure Caroline will agree this blazer will see you right through from summer until winter, year after year!

As you've probably already worked out, celebrities are a massive fan of our brand. We've had the likes of Fearne Cotton, Millie Mackintosh and Mollie King wearing our exclusively designed pieces. So it came as no surprise that the gorgeous TOWIE star Jess Wright headed out to London's newly-opened private members' club Stamp, with boyfriend Ricky Rayment in the spring/summer 14' must-have co-ord set! Stepping out in the White Split Back Crop with matching White Sheer Insert Midi Skirt, Jess styled her hair in loose, bouncy curls swept to one side to reveal her minimalist makeup with a ruby red lip. Styling the white set with a nude clutch and matching peep toe heels, Jess shown off her tanned complexion after her recent trip to Marbella!

The figure hugging bodycon dress has been the go-to style for a night out for quite some time now; it’s sexy, daring and completely shows off the female shape. What’s not to love? But did you know that we have the early 90’s to thank for this popular trend? A lot of the bodycon styles we see in our favourite high street stores today are very similar to those worn by celebrities on the red carpet during that decade. French fashion house Herve Leger was credited with popularising the bodycon trend with the invention of the Bandage Dress (you all know what this is girls!) it was created with the intention of moulding to the wearer’s figure. In today’s fashion, wearing a bodycon dress is a bold statement of body confidence. Contrary to what you might think a lot of different shapes and sizes can pull this style off.

How to wear a bodycon dress

Those of you who have a slim athletic figure and no exaggerated curves will benefit from choosing a bodycon dress that has volume to the shoulders. Try dresses that have a slightly padded or embellished detail on the shoulders. A high neckline will give the illusion of a larger chest, opt for a shorter style to show off your amazing long. Bodycon styles can be extremely flattering for you pear shaped ladies. Pear shape means your hip measurement is generally larger than both your waist and chest measurements, meaning you will most likely have a one very juicy butt! (Kimmy K anyone?!) Bodycon styles are ideal for pears as they don’t add any unnecessary bulk to your bum! If you’re not confident enough to go for a full bodycon dress, a bodycon skirt can be teamed with a loose blouse to balance out your figure and still make you look seriously sexy.

The Hourglass; the body shape every woman wishes for! If you are lucky enough to be the proud owner of an hourglass shape this means that your bust and hip measurements are almost exactly the same whilst your waist is considerably smaller. Bodycon dresses are the most flattering on this shape as they will highlight all of your gorgeous curves and make you look undeniably feminine. They won’t add any extra bulk to your figure and will show off that tiny waist!

It's no secret that Michelle Keegan loves Lavish Alice. So when she headed out on holiday in Marbella to fiancé Mark Wright's night at Tibi Club, wearing our Cream and Coral Contrast Boucle Top with co-ordinating Cream and Coral Contrast Boucle Shorts we just couldn't get enough! Wearing her luscious locks tousled to one side, Michelle shown off her tanned complexion at the Marbella spotlight night club.

We snuck five minutes with Manchester based blogger In The Frow to score the inside knowledge on her style, home town and what she'll be doing this summer!
Lavish Alice exclusive interview with fashion blogger In The Frow
Home is… the best place in the world. I live in the city of Manchester and I feel so lucky every day to live in such an awesome location.
I like to… match my hair to my coat, lipstick, bag or all of it, pretty much every day.
Three things you should know about me are… Im a Doctor of Fashion (PhD), I own 62 pairs of shoes and my face is on the packet of Real Crisps Salt and Pepper flavour.
My personal style is… eclectic. A mixture of tailoring, sophisticated, glam, grunge, party and casual. I wear what my mood dictates.
I started In The Frow because… I decided I wanted somewhere to write down my own thoughts about products. I needed an outlet.
In the upcoming months my blog will… be continuing to show off the latest clothing pieces, will be running a number of great giveaways and I will also be blogging my trip to LA and the west coast of the USA in June.
My advice to any budding blogger is… to be original and to highlight their own personality. Show off your own traits.
My perfect Lavish outfit would be… anything from the new summer collection. The Cobalt Palm Print Playsuit I will definitely need to take away with me for LA!

The races are the most glamorous daytime event of your summertime social calendar, and bring the perfect opportunity for a chic new outfit to get you standing out from the crowd of fascinators. With having entered into June with the most famous racing event of the year- Ascot- we’ll be giving you stylish outfit ideas so you can be sure to look fabulous at any racing event. The races ooze sophistication and statement pieces. They reflect affluence and aristocracy calling all women to wear appropriate attire of modest length dresses and skirts. But here at Lavish Alice, we create a modern refreshing take on the traditions for an on-trend, sophisticated, but unique demure look.

What to wear to Ascot Races by Lavish Alice

Maxi dresses show a relaxed, feminine summer vibe and due to their length, are perfect for the races. Our Cobalt Blue Palm Tree Maxi Dress makes a bold summer statement that can be dressed up with subtle jewellery and killer heels. For a more elegant and structured maxi, select our Off White Cut Out Maxi Dress, and for delicate sophistication, check out our Cream Lattice Back Maxi Dress. The most on-trend skirt this season is the Volume Midi Skirt, which pulls in at the waist and elongates across the hips with a sheer panel for an updated and sexy take on the classic. Instead of an all in one dress, this co-ord style breaks up the outfit with an addedScuba Crop Top, which leaves just the right amount of skin on show.

Fitted midi dresses and pencil skirts scream sophistication, maturity of style and are brilliant for accentuating your figure. The fitted all-in-one length of the Pink Palm Leaf Racer Midi Dress allows your silhouette to appear taller with a flattering bold print and strong, rounded neckline. For a more suited and structured look, the White Crossover Culottes are a fresh take on the traditional trouser suit. The crisp white wrap overs will go with almost any pretty shirt or pastel top for a truly unique turn up to wow at the races. To complete the different outfit takes on racing styling, make sure you have a pair of Tread Sole Platform Shoes to add to your posture, and a pair of Brown Oversized Cateye Sunglasses to shield that scorching sun (hopeful) with attitude. With these outfit picks, it’ll be hard for guests to keep their eyes on the racing and off your refined LA styling.

Portuguese blogger Carolina Santiago of Heaven Rose, describes herself as still figuring out her style - but we think she's nailed it in our White and Black Floral Print Cropped Mini Dress! Channeling her inner Parisian chic, she styles up the celeb fave cropped mini dress with a cute vintage bike and pastel flowers to match. Keeping her hair and make up natural with a simple side swept style with blush rose cheeks. We love her classic accessories combo - take not of the nude bow flatforms with matching bow detail bag. Now the next question is; "Why don't we all look this good riding a bike?"
